Why is introducing workplace wellness programmes important?
Employees are your company’s biggest asset! They are the core of what an organisation does – without healthy happy staff, it’s difficult to run a healthy successful and profitable business. Healthy employees are happy and engaged employees and have a greater job satisfaction, purpose and lower stress levels. Any employee benefits that an organisation can introduce serve an important purpose for not only the individuals who work for the organisation but also for the performance and the success of the business.
There’s nothing worse for employee morale than having a job that doesn’t bring joy. Businesses and employers can play an important role in job satisfaction by supporting staff happiness and wellbeing. And this certainly should be in their interest. Happy and healthy employees are more likely to excel in their roles, collaborate effectively with colleagues, remain loyal to their employers and dedicated to the company’s mission and goals, which in turn reduces turnover rates and associated costs.
Research shows that 86% of employees would be more likely to leave a job if there was no obvious support for employee wellbeing. Well-being is just as important as salary for most employees and a majority would consider leaving a company that doesn’t focus on well-being, another survey found. Happy, healthy employees make satisfied shareholders because employee wellbeing can predict higher profits and share prices.
In today’s competitive job market, employers who offer an attractive workplace wellness programme attract and retain the best talent.
Can you really afford not to invest in employee wellness?
Did you know that health-related productivity loss is costing UK economy a whopping £138bn per year? That’s the latest estimated annual cost according to the health and life insurer Vitality. Vitality have been running the annual Britain’s Healthiest Workplace survey since 2014, results of which have shown a steady drop in productivity since the survey was started.
Presenteeism, when employees are at work but not working productively as a result of ill-health, is the main driver of productivity loss.
While UK workers lose on average 6.1 days per year due to absence (taking sick leave), the presenteeism equivalent is 43.6 days per year, or almost 1 day a week. Almost half of UK workers are suffering from burnout, mental ill health, and work-related stress. On average, 33 million days in the UK are lost each year due to minor illnesses, like coughs and colds, with 18 million days lost to mental health conditions.
Is your organisation investing in employee wellbeing?
If not, you are missing an opportunity for financial gain along with a generally happier and more engaged and productive workplace.

As a nutrition and lifestyle medicine practitioner, I “walk the talk” myself and am very passionate about inspiring and educating others about the incredible power of food and nutrition that can transform our health and that I see in my one-to-one clients all the time.
I’d love to show your staff members how to do it effortlessly without the overwhelm, or compromising enjoyment or flavour!
Feedback from previous events
Talk on menopause for Sonardyne Menopause Café meetup in Yateley in February 2026.
“Great to have Minna Wood at Sonardyne International as a guest speaker for our Menopause Cafe. Lots of interesting tips and information. Lots of great feedback afterwards.”
“Your presentation was well received with positive feedback. We are still talking about it in the office.”

“I learnt so much about women’s health. We all deal with levels of stress both at work and at home. Hormones and the Menopause are topics I really should understand better. Diet, exercise, sleep and nutrition play such an important part in finding the right balance in coping with it all. Minna Wood did a fantastic job and really made me think about some small changes I could make that would likely make a big impact on my life.”
“Minna was so knowledgeable and her talk was very enlightening and interesting – definitely made me think twice about my ‘need’ for a sugary snack at 3pm!”

My Food and Mood course at Stepping Stones Recovery College Bracknell that has been running since 2021 is always well received and the feedback I get is overwhelmingly positive:
“This course has made a massive difference. It has given me a great distraction from my usual coping mechanisms of drugs and alcohol. My quality of life is improving drastically as I have cut out certain foods and replaced them with heatlhier options. Excellent facilitator and the course material is everthing you could possibly hope for, exceeding my expectations in every way possible. I can confidently say it has improved my lifestyle and changed my way of thinking when it comes to my diet. A big thank you to Minna for this life-changing course. Not only has it improved my physical and mental wellbeing in the 4 weeks but my interest and curiosity towards diet has made me consider a career change.”
“Epic! This is probably one of the most important things very few people know anything about.”
“This is stuff that everyone should know.”
“Just a huge thank you – I’m so pleased I booked this course; I have learnt so much.”
“I’m going to recommend this course to everyone.”
“Very useful and informative. All information was given in a way which was easy to understand.”
“Minna is so knowledgeable and importantly she is willing to share that knowledge in a relatable way.”
“This course has increased my knowledge of the body and its interaction with food.”
